Hello — I'm Sue
Whether you're navigating anxiety, healing from trauma, or simply looking for a steady presence through a difficult season — I'm glad you're here. Therapy is a space to be heard, understood, and supported exactly where you are.
About
I'm Sue J Howe, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in the heart of Bethel, Maine. I work with individuals who are carrying heavy things — anxiety that won't quiet down, grief that feels endless, relationships that have grown strained, or the simple but profound sense that something needs to shift.
My approach is warm, direct, and grounded. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you — offering tools, perspective, and a consistent, nonjudgmental presence as you rediscover what matters most.
Whether we meet in person at my office on Mechanic Street or connect online, the goal is the same: to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, and supported enough to grow.
— Sue J Howe, LCPC
Services
Each session is tailored to where you are right now — no cookie-cutter plans, just honest, thoughtful work together.
When your mind won't stop racing, therapy can help you find calm — not by silencing your thoughts, but by changing your relationship to them.
Depression can make everything feel distant or heavy. Together, we'll work toward small, meaningful steps back toward engagement and hope.
Healing from trauma isn't about forgetting — it's about reclaiming your sense of safety and agency in your own life.
Whether it's a partnership, family dynamic, or pattern of isolation, relational pain deserves careful attention and compassionate exploration.
Loss, career changes, identity shifts — transitions can upend everything. I help you find solid ground and a path forward.
Not ready for in-person? I offer secure online sessions so you can connect from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
My Approach
Beginning therapy can feel daunting. Here's what to expect — no surprises, just clarity.
Send a message or give me a call. We'll have a brief conversation to see if we're a good fit — no obligation, no pressure.
Our first session is about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you here and what you'd like to get out of therapy.
Together we'll set goals and find a rhythm that works for you. Some weeks are heavy, some are lighter — that's all part of the process.
